Digital Dentistry

Dentistry in the UK is continually evolving; with digital dentistry now using computer-based technologies for improved accuracy, efficiency and comfort in dental care. We are therefore actively investing in digital innnovations, in the form of a Digital Scanner and a CBCT machine, in our practice to stay at the forefront of these developments. This is because we feel really passionately about the impressive benefits these systems offer us as clinicians - and to you, as our valued patients. 

Our Trios 5 Digital Scanner replaces traditional methods of impression taking (which used to involve a gooey material being put into a plastic mould and held in a patients' mouth for up to 5 minutes) with a small wand now being used instead to scan the inside of the mouth for increased accuracy, more precise treatment planning, improved communication, and a much more comfortable patient experience. These scans result in a high-colour 3D image of a patients mouth being displayed on a screen - which is really useful for patients to look at when trying to understand what is happening in their mouth, as well as for dental monitoring (as we can quickly and easily compare scans between appointments to see if a dental problem is improving or worsening) and for treatment simulation (to visualise how treatment could transform a patients smile). These images can also be sent to our dental laboratory for them to make a crown, bridge, implant or denture in a much more efficient and high quality way. 

Our CBCT machine is a 3D imaging device that uses a cone-shaped X-ray beam to create detailed, high-resolution images of a patients teeth, jaw, soft tissues and bones. This is particularly useful to us when planning orthodontic and/or implant treatments.
